Researcher Shares Optimistic View of Local TV Future

Speaking at the Excellence in Journalism convention in Ft. Lauderdale, RTDNA-Hoftra University researcher Bob Papper peppered a packed room with stats on what’s happening in local TV and what’s coming down the pike.

“You can’t compare what’s happening in TV to newspapers,” Papper said.  “Just look at hours of news to see how TV is faring. TV is expanding news and hiring people – doing more with less is not a long-term strategy.”

Though Papper went on to say that TV is not safe forever, he says there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
